Recipes and FOOD!

All recipes and food ideas are submission from PAO members. SO THANK YOU!

From Feather on PAO:

Jell-O strawberry or raspberry - 5 calories per portion - You can find them with the refrigerate products (cottage cheese, puddings, etc)
They looks a bit like this, and come in a pack of 6 :http://addyrs2urlife.blogspot.com/

The Jell-O chocolate mousse : 70 calories - Same place - It looks like this:

Media_httpmediafilesg_htbcn

It's not that sweet, but it can help a craving.

Splenda French vanilla flavour for coffee - 0 calories - It actually taste very good, and it looks like this:

Media_httpiiprodrwmar_qckia

Any Chicken or beef Broth in powder or cubes that is low calories (The ones I find are always 15 calories.. I heard of some at 5 only. Let me know if you know some.)

(I think most of these products are pretty much international, but Im from Quebec, Canada)

From Star98777

Side note: if you get the sugar free pudding mix and make it with almond milk, its even lower in cal than the pudding cups. I don't recommend the vanilla though, tastes pretty odd.

Kraft singles fat free American cheese... 25 cals per slice. I have found it at Wal-Mart and Fry's (Kroger), though I haven't paid attention elsewhere. But kraft is pretty well known so I imagine its easy to find.

Sara Lee Delightful bread is 45 cal per slice, and Nature's Own has a low-cal bread that's 40 cals per slice.

Fiber One 80 is damn good with half a cup of unsweetened almond milk (100 cal total for cereal and milk). I'm a cereal fiend, so this makes my day. :D

Smuckers has sugar free jams and jellies that are 10 cal per serving.

Ah, Kroger (Fry's) also has these sugar free jello parfait things, I like them over jello sometimes, just for a switch up. They're 25 cal.

Reddi whip fat free whipped cream in a can is 5 cal for 2 tbsp.

Maple Grove Farms sugar free pancake syrup is 30 cal for 1/4 cup, compared for 200 or so in normal syrup. I've found it at Fry's and Wal-Mart.

Fiber One, the original, is 60 cal per serving (1/2 cup).

Sugar free Pillsbury brownie mix, while the package says they're 150 cal per serving... if you make the recipe with 1 egg white and 1/3 SF applesauce instead of the oil... 93 cal per brownie (going to put this in the recipe thread in a moment while I'm at it)

PS: All the walden farms products are now at Fry's (Kroger) by all the gluten free stuff, including the alfredo sauce, tomato basil pasta sauce, the mayo, RIGHT after I bought a bunch online last night. Like seriously, wtf people!

If you can find them... sugar free pop rocks. I found them at the candy store in the mall, they have an entire section of sugar free candy. 17 cals!? I felt like a little kid, and they tasted the same as the regular. Buahahaha, made my day. :)

nestle diet hot cocoa - 20 cal

alpine sugar free spiced apple cider - 15 cal (I totally mix this with captain morgan, don't judge)

hills bros sugar free cappuccino - 50 cal (I have found double mocha and french vanilla, friggin' awesome too)

pop weaver light butter popcorn - 20 cal per 1 cup serving

eggo nutrigrain - 70 cal per waffle

From Avari:

Not sure if anyone posted this yet. I have a thing for chocolate so I was looking for better ways to hold it down.

South beach diet bars (range from 100-200 calories and 6 and up of fiber and protien) They pack a lot of fiber and protein for the amount of calories. My favorite is the whipped chocolate almond snack bar (100 cals, 6g fiber, 6g protein)

Weight watchers candies (50-60 cal a piece with 3gs of fiber)

Just some stuff I've fallen in love with.

Letters to wannas!

From Kaiya on PAO:

My letter to the wannas.      ---                                              Dear Seriously confused,      I'm not here to lecture you, or call you names. I want to warn you about the absolute hell you are getting yourself into. Everyday I, and thousands of others, fight for our sanity and our lives. If you were to follow me one day, just one, and you would see this "lifestyle" isn't glamerous. It isn't fun, nor will it aquire you a fabulous social life. In reality it's filled with tears and self-torture. On a daily basis I lie to my loved ones, starve myself to the point of passing out, or purge until I can no longer stand. My hair is falling out, and my joints are that of an 80yr old woman. I find it hard to leave my house. My loved ones don't trust me, but you know what I love about this illness the most? That fact I probably won't make it to my 21st birthday. Or when vomit and potty water splashes in my face. I would love to turn back time. To stop consuming my time with self-destructive thoughts. To eat without guilt running through me so thickly that I want to commit suicide. I want to not constantly think about how fat and ugly I am. The truth is this illness will not make you skinny, pretty, or confident. It will make you despise yourself. It won't make you loved. Or make others fawn over you at a single glance. In fact, the very people who love you will start to resent you. You will end up by yourself. "Ana" is not your friend. She is a cold calculating killer. She doesn't want your happiness, no. She wants your life. Please turn back now. This insn't what you want. If you're serious about weight then do it the healthy way. You  want to enjoy your body you can't do that as a corpse.                                             From someone who cares,                                         Kaiya

Welcome to our third issue of our Newletter. In this issue will will discuss supplements, definitions, and of course thinspo!

Fasting, cleanse, restrict? What the hell is the difference?

A fast (by a pro ana standard) is 0 calorie consumption. A cleanse is n the same concept of a fast BUT with some calories and to rid the body of toxins. Restriction is consuming no more than 500 calories. In some circles it's no more than 800 or even 1000.

Which is better?

Most Pro Ana's would agree to rotate all three. When your body gets used to something any progress (or lackthereof) can be haulted. Even with exercise it's good to change up your routine every now and again.

What cleanses are most popular?

Hollywood 48 hour cleanse - Is our number one pick for cleansing. It's low on calories, it's cheap, and you can buy it at most grocery stores.

The lemondade diet or master cleanse - Is another one. This one is cheap and you can do it at home. You can rotate this cleanse with the Hollywood 48 hour cleanse. This cleanse however does not have the added vitamins or nutriants as the other. Also the taste can get boring after a while. It's good to switch things up! See it here.

Fasting - So just water?

Not really. As long as your consumption is 0 calories such as Diet Coke, Coffee, or Tea. Coffee has .05 calories per serving and you burn that amount off in 30 seconds by just breathing. There are some flavored waters that are 0 calories too.

How do I come off a fast?

You slowly include calories back in. A little soup here and there. A good way to come off a fast is 2468 diet. Click here to see.

Water retention and what is it?

Water retention, also known as fluid retention refers to an excessive build up of fluid in the circulatory system, body tissues, or cavities in the body. Up to 70% of the human body consists of water. Water exists both inside and outside our body's cells. Blood is mostly made up of water, as are our organs and muscles. - Medical News Today

So what can I do besides drinking plenty of water to get rid of it?

There are plenty of supplements you can take to help FLUSH excessive water out of your body. Diurex is common and can be found in most stores and online. Don't forget to check out natural ways too. Coffee is easy and at home. Make yourself a few cups. If you can't seem to keep the bloating at bay see your doctor.

Thinspo!

20070515_113_350x263

A lot has happened over the last week or so and I would like for ALL (who are knwledgeable about the subject) to comment on this:

The Doctor Oz program discussed how Pro Ana websites were harmful and well, I think all old pro ana's knew he didn't have his facts straight.

Let us make this very clear: Pro Ana is a sub type or sub group of people with eating disorders (AN, BN, EDNOS, or PD. Pro Ana community do not ENFORCE recovery, and do not PROVIDE tips, and tricks on how to "get" an eating disorder.

Here is the link to Dr. Oz's blog. Click here.

I must point out that have did NO RESEARCH whatsoever. Pro Ana is NOT Pro Anorexia or Wanarexic.

Please post your thoughts below!

WATER, WATER, EVERYWHERE!

We all know water is important right? It keeps our hair, skin and nails healthy and helps keep nasty cravings (binges and purges too) at bay. But what does this mean to Pro Ana’s in general? WEIGHT and BLOATING.

For those of you that don't know the more water you drink, the less you retain. You should consume 8-10 cups of water. If you can't keep track then get a water bottle with measurements listed on the side. You can pick water bottles up at just about any store. Keep in mind that if you drink coffee, tea, or diet soda you need to up your water intake.

DON'T EVER drink over 12 cups of water. You can get water intoxication and die. None of us want to die right? RIGHT?!!!?

Caloric intake...

Most anorexics, take in about 500 calories or less. That does not mean all of us do that. Some of us purge by use of laxatives or exercise. Watch yourself. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded: SIT DOWN. Take a break, or sip on orange juice. Passing out isn't glamorous either.

Raising your metabolism
Simply put, metabolism is the process of breaking down proteins, carbohydrates, and fats to yield the energy your body needs to maintain. The rate of your metabolism depends on the interaction between the number of calories you consume, the number of calories you burn while eating and exercising, and the calories you burn based on your individual genetic makeup.
How can you increase your metabolism? Well, there’s not much you can do about your genes (they only account for a measly 5% of total daily calorie consumption anyway), which means the best way to rev up your metabolism is to increase your body’s need for energy.
“Your body can burn calories from fat, protein, or carbs,” says John Berardi, PhD, CSCS, president of Precision Nutrition, and author of The Metabolism Advantage. “Of course, you’d rather it burn fat calories, but your body isn’t wasteful; it will burn fat only when it needs energy.”
One such time is during exercise, but it’s difficult to exercise all the time, especially if you’re stuck at a desk all day. Luckily, your body requires extra energy at other times, too, such as during the first hour or two after intense exercise like interval training and weight lifting. This is called the “after burn” effect, Berardi says, and it can last for up to 24 hours. Strength training with heavier than usual weights uses up energy, too -- in order to repair small (healthy) muscle tears.
And simply being more muscular boosts your body’s energy needs. Each extra pound of muscle you carry can burn up to 50 additional calories just to maintain it -- and with no effort on your part. You can also increase your metabolism by eating foods that require extra energy to digest and metabolize; for example, protein. Your body burns twice as many calories digesting high-protein foods as it does foods that are high in carbs or fat, he says. - ARTICLE SOURCE

Supplements for metabolism

As far as I know: CINNIMON capsules help raise metabolism. My neurologist even suggested it, so it’s well known among physicians. Caffeine can help too but be careful.

Where to get ephedrine?

This question that gets raised a lot. Ephedrine is hard to get. You should ONLY use ephedrine if you are 18 years of age or older. What IS ephedrine? Click here to for the information, and risks.

The only place I could find with cheap ephedrine is by searching online. If you like how it works LET US KNOW! We would love to include testimonials in our E-Zine. This place seems reputable. It does have an 800 number to call and ask questions too. There’s another site I found the other day with cheaper ephedrine. I'm going to have to tweet that!

THINSPO!
We can't end this issue without a little thinspo right? RIGHT!

Images are from Xanga.com

This is our first issue and we plan to include more info, thinspo, diet pills, and comments!
